Ancient Oven 1: The Ott/White Clan 0

Let me start off by informing you of our very very VERY old oven. Im talking this could be the first oven ever made old! But it works so that’s kind of what matters to us at this point. We have priorities here people and they include hopefully a washer & dryer in our near future! These priorities definitely do not include replacing an oven anytime soon. So imagine your grandma’s oven. You know the one im talking about. That’s our oven. We’ve used it plenty of times since we’ve moved in, but we’ve never once turned on the right side burners that have a griddle top…until last night.
I’ve wanted to make cheeseburgers for a while now and I even bought fries for the occasion. Keepin’ it classy with fred meyer fries! So last night I told Erich that it’s his night to cook and im going to sweep the floors and pick up while he cooks. Good deal! So he’s made the burgers and hes cooking them on the untouched griddle top. Everything seems to be going perfectly fine. The first couple of burgers he put on are practically done. All of a sudden there is THE loudest pop and super bright sparks coming from the oven. I have never ever seen Erich jump this high in my life. Suddenly, it happens again. So he runs down to the breaker as fast as humanly possible without falling down the stairs and turns the breaker off for the oven. After about 5 minute of investigating, we see nothing is wrong and nothing is on fire. We realized this would be a good moment to bring the fire extinguisher up from the garage (why the heck is it in the garage and not in the kitchen!?!). Then we both just started cracking up! I was laughing because of how freaked out and high Erich flew and he was just laughing at our crazy old oven!
We were both a little..okay a lot worried to turn on that side of the burner so we finished the rest of the hamburgers off in a pan. Then the rest of the night was spent in our smoke filled living room (umm our fire alarms didn’t go off, im pretty sure those are on our priority list now) watching Supernatural.

I think the oven just moved up a little on that priority list of ours!
